agreement (2026)

ballpoint pens on paper (21x20.5 cm)

Blood, passion, danger, anger, flesh, they’re all part of us. But this one here is more about joy, and love - maybe these two contain some of the others, but they’re bigger, more lasting, deeper. It’s like an agreement taking place:

‘I let you be sometimes, you run in my veins, but you have your place, and I have mine: you don’t define me, because I’m the result of much, much more.

you are not made to be spilled, but to be given, yes. if you bring passion and anger, you are made to be contained: but not forced. You are contained in flesh, but it is you who has always been in danger. And you are joy too, you want to be let free, hand in hand with love, running around and playing happily like children.

you run in my veins, but it’s me who breathes and feeds you. And you are my feelings, but I know how to carry all of you combined. So let’s be clear, you have your place, and I have mine. You don’t define me, and you don’t control me: I’m not the result of you, you are the result of me.

you are contained, as this is the only way you can carry life - if you become loose, you join an endless river, which is never YOUR choice.

to some, you are a symbol of ever-flowing, ever-moving life. To others, you provoke fear, or you’re the evidence of suffering. I just pray you stay contained, unless we offer you, to help where you’re needed.

your make is soft, flowing in liquid form: but full of oxygen, energy, life. When you are spilled from your container, it’s pain and fear: we paint you this way too. But you’re also sacred: we’re both violence and love.’
